A good recipe for little helpers to make in Mama’s kitchen. a * 3 A WORD TO THE WIVES At this time of year it’s a good idea to check all the kitchen tools. See that your knives are sharp. Take a really critical look at all the gadgets and ruthlessly discard those which are never put to good use. Then take a venturesome trip to the nearest houseware store and look into the newest cooking helps. You may find many labor savers among them, at a small cost, too.
BOOKS A Xlash of Destinies' Out A CLASH OF DESTINIES, by Jon and David Kimche, $4.95 (Praeger). One of the brothers Kimche was a soldier in the Israeli army, the other was a newspaper man. Together they form a remarkable historical team, adding to the many studies on their subject new mater i a 1 obtained from Bi'itish and Arab informants, necessarily anony. mous, but assuredly d o c umented. They are first to record the “clash Burstein o f destinies,” of which the war itself was but a symptom. All the details are here — the British bumbling and intransigence, the unofficial and official wars, the errors as well as the successes of Ben-Gurion, Glubb, Abdullah, and the other characters now part of world history. The ultimate hope of the authors is that the leaders of the New Arab order and awakening will take the right ways toward fulfilling their new destiny. Their arguments are entirely convincing.
