Twenty lovely ladies were initiated into Deb-Ette last Sunday, following the annual Deb-Ette spring dance; Marilyn Schahet was chosen best pledge. It’s worth noting that each of these girls did an hour of philanthropic work each week before initiation, helping down at the many organizations in the English Foundation Bldg.; assistance, unskilled as it may be, is always welcome down there, so you might give it a thought for the long summer ahead. David Goldstein, cadet major in SHS ROTC, won the Indianapolis News ROTC award at Federal inspection, May 26. Helaine Stein has been awarded the Frank B. Wade chemistry award from SHS. New Deb-Ette* officers were elected May 26. They are Charlene Greenberger, president; Jeanne Decker, vice-president; Mickey Wides, secretary; and Diane Lochman, treasurer. That’s about the buzz for now; the traffic should be pretty heavy from now on, with the collegiate set coming home, and guests and travelers coming in'and out of the city. COHEN ACTS ON PANEL Marshall Cohen, executive director of the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations council, served on a panel discussion on housing at the City Hall May 21, before the mayor’s Commission on Human Rights.

Richard Solo of Waterbury, Conn. Mr. Solo is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Solo of Waterbury, and is associated with the I. Solo Shoe Co. there. Miss Moskowitz attended Indiana university. She is now employed by Trans World Airlines

in New York.

The couple is planning a July wedding in Bridgeport, Conn., the former residence of the Moskowitz family before they came to Indianapolis in 1955.

10 Cakes Dorit Make A Minyan

Even though Rabbi Karl Richter of Michigan City’s Sinai temple reported last -week how pleased he was over an increase in Friday evening attendance he found it necessary to add that he can’t count cakes in making up a manyan. Writiifg in his bulletin he explained that "once in a while we notice that members who sponsor oney shabbats are only represented by their cakes and cookies.” "Although their contributions are worthy examples of the culinary arts, we would much prefer to welcome our friends in person,” he wrote.

Oscar Tobias To Marry Miss F. Shenker Mr. and Mrs. Earl Shenker of Sacramento, Calif, have announced the engagement of his daughter, Fannye Shenker, to Oscar Tobias, 2951 Ruckle. Miss Shenkef, who has been residing in Columbu.4, O., is also the daughter of the late Esther Shenker. The bride-elect attended Ohio State university. Her fiance is the son of Mrs. Ida Tobias, and the late Joseph Tobias. He is associated with Green Distributors. The wedding date has been set for Aug. 30.

A round of parties to honor the June 7 marriage of Frances Calderon and Israel Samuel, Lazerov will come to a close with a rehearsal dinner Saturday, June 6, in the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Calderon, 6007 Crows Nest dr. The couple will be married in an afternoon ceremony in Congregation Beth-El Zedeck. eron, and Albert Nahmias, and the Graylyn hotel was the scene of another noontime affair at which Mmes. Nat Smith and Michael Smith were hostesses. A DINNER party for the couple was held by Mr. and Mrs. Becker, and Mr. and Mrs. Nahmias in Westchester country club, and another-luncheon was given by Mrs. Ben Paller and her

daughter, Judy.

The groom-elect’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lazerov of Memphis, Tenn., honored the couple at an open house and reception in their home Mar. 28.
