Rabbi Richter Gives Daughter in Marriage

Rabbi Karl Richter of Sinai Temple in Michigan City gave his daughter Esther in marriage to Warren S. Blumenfeld, son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Blumenfeld of East Chicago, at ceremonies in Sinai Temple on Sunday, Aug. 10. RABBI RICHTER officiated at the wedding. Mrs. John Nickoll of Milwaukee, the bride’s former college roommate, was matron of honor. Bridesmaid was Miss Susan Verb of Chicago, and junior bridesmaid, Miss Susan Blumenfeld. RONALD SONE of Forest Park, 111., served as best man. Ushers were David Blumenfeld of East Chicago, and Ronald Mora of Chicago. David Richter, brother of the bride, served as junior usher. A reception for 450 guests was held in the community room of the temple immediately follow-

ing the ceremony. The reception was opened by the pronouncement of the sheva brahot (seven benedictions) by Rabbi Carl Miller of Temple Israel, Gary, and Rabbi Joseph Schwarz of Temple Beth El, Benton Harbor, Michigan.

THE BRIDE, a graduate of Isaac C. Elston Senior High School in Michigan City, received her BA degree from the University of Michigan, where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority and Power and Horn honorary. The bridegroom received his BA degree from Indiana University, where he was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. He was awarded a master’s degree from Purdue University, where he majored in industrial psychology. Mr. Blumenfeld recently completed a two-year tour of service as a lieutenant with the United States Army.

Sharon Levitt, Irving Rudich Will Marry

The marriage of Miss Sharon Levitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Kelly Levitt, 431 Rainbow Lane, to Irving Rudich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rudich of New York will be solemnized on Sunday, Aug. 31, at Westchester Country Club. Rabbi Nandor Fruchter will officiate.

Record Swimming To End Monday A Record summer of swimming

at the Jewish Community Center will come to an end next Monday when the lights and main pumps are shut off at 10 p.m. for the first time since Memorial

Day. The summer, despite its coolness, saw record crowds flock to the center to swim, relax and meet their friends. A record 2391 was clocked in on a recent Sunday and a record 1506 on a week day.
