DIGEST OF THE YIDDISH PRESS Seagate Has Changed: A Jew Can Get in—If He Has a Pass

By RABBI SAMUEL M. SILVER If you were a Jew, you couldn’t get into Seagate, a walled community chockful of large mansions which Gentiles had built for their privacy. That was a long
time ago.
G r a d u a lly, Jews penetrateed Seagate, which adjoins Coney I s 1 and, and today, I. Shmulewitz, of the Forward, apprises us, it is one of the most thoroughly Jewish com-
munities in the land. Run by an association, Seagate’s 700 homes are assessed at about $10,000,000. Its regular population is about 6500, with another 3500 arriving during the summer as friends of the regular dwellers and lodgers at the area’s three hotels and rooming
houses.
Nowadays, if you are a Jew, you can get into Seagate—providing that you show your pass to the policeman at the wall. Paid Muni Sings, Dances In New Musical in L. A. Paul Muni was a smash hit at the Los Angeles opening of the new play which is expected to 2 Youths Attacked In Cincinnati Park CINCINNATI (NJP)—Two of three Jewish boys w 7 ho admitted to their attackers that they were Jews suffered minor injuries here
hit Broadway this September. It’s a new Muni, too. In accordance with his belief that every actor , ought to be proficient in every medium, he dances and sings in the play, a musical version of "Grand Hotel,” redubbed “At the Grand.” H. Lang, of the Forward, attended the premiere and shepped nahas from Muni’s versatility and from the thunderous ovations he received. Playing the part of the hotel cellar-dwelling employee who is told he has but a short time to live and therefore decides to enjoy a fling in the luxurious hotel where he has worked these many years, Muni appears in 13 of the fastrmoving 16 scenes of the play and captivates his audience by his fine acting and his two poignant musical numbers: "A Table with a View” and "I Dance Alone.” Although Muni seems to have strayed far from his origins, Lang believes that in this new operetta he reverts to his beginnings and is showing the general public the pathos of Sholem Aleichem’s "Koppel,” the character Muni enacted 50 yeai'S ago when he broke into the Yiddish stage.

19-Year Separation Ends as News Photo Unites Father, Son
TEL AVIV (NJP)—A 20-year-old recent immigrant from Poland, Ludovic Eisenbach, located his father whom he hadn’t seen for 19 years through a photograph published in a Yiddish daily here. Aharon Moses, a Beersheba tinsmith who arrived in Palestine in 1943 'after escaping from the Nazis, thought the picture might be that of his son. The father remmebered a scar his son had received when operated on as an infant, and this clinched the identity. Moses has since remarried and is the father of two other sons by his second wife. Overjoyed, Moses has in-
