ville in connection with the handout of anti-Semitic literature by the National Committee to Free Americans From Jewish Domination (See story on page 13). The handbills were passed out in front of the Louisville Courier Journal office but the paper declined to mention the Incident in its news columns. However, there was a more '■positive” side to his story, too. Bob served as a staff member in three Christian summer camps where he put in his bid for interfaith good will and gave campers an idea of the origin and basis of prejudice. Gordon reports heartwarming response. Now that the summer is practically over The POST and OP1Nion asked Gordon what he planned to do with his spare time. Step one, he indicated, will be to send a large volume of letters of apology to people he had been unable to respond to during the time he was away. Step two, the beginning of program planning with newly appointed BB lodge and chapter ADL chairmen. Step three, the planning of the regional advisory board meeting scneduled for Oct. 18 at Elkhart. And step four, a nervous breakdown. • LOUIS BERNSTEIN, president of Shara Teffila Synagogue, put in his- bid this week for “cooperation and harmony among Indianapolis’ Orthodox synagogues” by joining Knesses Israel Congregation. Bernstein told The POST and OPINION that he was doing this as part of his support of the establishment of a united Orthodox congregation in Indianapolis, but he didn’t mention UCHC. • Three Indianapolis Jewish leaders were out of town this tveek. ART MINTZER, Federation director, is in New York on a v a c a t ion. He’s not expected back until I, a b o r Day. Shara Teffila’s RABBI MOSES MAGv N E S is in Rabbi Magnes Chicago interviewing cantors for the High Holy Days. And AARON INTRATER, JEA director, and his wife Rosaline
are in Miami Beach vacationing and interviewing teachers for next fall. O Looks like Indianapolis grocery chains have lost respect for the “Respect Sunday” campaign The movement, in which several Jewish merchants play prominent roles, just isn’t heard of too much these days. Standard Food Stores reinstituted some Sunday operations last April. Colonial Stop and Shop and Kro ger food stores resumed Sunday business in some of their markets last month. And Marsh food lines this week announced that they would resume Sunday operations effective this Sunday. A & P has always been closed on Sundays. C WALTER GOLDMAN, former music director at Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, will be in charge of maintenance in the congregation’s new building. RABBI GREENFELD made the announcement.
IKE WOLF FOREST PLANTED IN ISRAEL Completion of a project to plant a 1,000-tree forest in Israel in memory of the late Ike Wolf was announced this week by Cantor Myro Glass and Michael Leventhal, co-chairmen of the memorial project. “We wish to express our appreciation and thanks to the many who have participated in this worthy memorial,” they declared.

Tree-Planters^ Four Gifts In To JNF Drive
Indianapolis “tree-planters” began pouring in their contributions this week to the local Jewish National Fund council’s drive to help plant a million trees in Israel in honor of the state’s 10th anniversary. Local JNF leaders report “gratifying” response and told The POST and OPINION that amount of contributions will be announced next week
Twenty dollars will buy 10 trees to help reclaim Israel’s eroded soil and will assure the donor of having his name and the amount of his subscription inscribed on a scroll of honor to be presented to Israel President Itzhak Ben-Zvi. Donations may be sent either to co-chairmen Leo Talesnick or Ben Prince or to any of the fol-
lowing members of the 10-trees committee: Mrs. Benjamin Aronson, Herbert Adler, Gabriel Cohen, Joe Cohen, Mrs. Irving Epstein, Shoolem Ettinger, Rabbi Najidor Fruehter, Mrs. Morris Gernstein, Cantor Myro Glass, Mi's.
