GOVERNOR, mayor proclaim ISRAEL ANNIVERSARY WEEK Isiaels 10th anniversary was doubly honored in Indianapolis this week. Both Indiana’s Governor Harold W. Handley and Indianapolis, Mayor Phillip L. Bayt proclaimed the week of April 24-May 1 as Israel’s 10th anniversary week. Gov. Handley praised the 10-year-old state for remaining "a firm friend of the United States and the free world in a troubled area of the world.” Noting that Israel is “dedicated to the same ideals as our own country,” he declared that “it has made giant strides in redeeming the desert and building new cities ...” Israel was praised in Mayor Bayt's proclamation for its “notable contribution toward humanity and civilization in the arts and sciences.” The mayor declared that Israel “remains a bastion of freedom in an area of the world where international communism seeks to gain control and extend its influence.”

Sarah Kroof Dies in Florida Funeral services were held Sunday, April 20, at AaronRuben for Mrs. Sarah Kroot, who moyed from Indianapolis to Miami Beach three years ago in September. Mrs. Kroot died April 17 in Miami Beach, Fla. Burial was in Beth-El Cemetery here. She had been a member of the Beth-El Zedeck sisterhood and Hadassah here. Survivors axe her husband, Isadore Kroot; two sons, Dr. Ralph I. Kroot of Gary and Robert Kroot; one daughter, Mrs. Leon W. Bei'ger; two sisters, Mi's. Dena Shainberg of Nashville and Mrs. Nettie Carr esky; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

JCC SQUARE DANCERS TO SWING PARTNERS
Center members will swing their partners at the next square dance scheduled for 8 p. m., Sunday, May 4, at the Jewish Community Center. Charles Sanford of the Indidnapolis Callers’ Association will lead the dancers. Admission is 50 cents per person. 'And Now Miguel' “And Now Miguel,” the true story of the life and work of the Chavez family of New Mexico, will be presented at 3:30 p. m., Saturday, April 26, as part of a children’s internation film festival.
Abraham Cohen's Last Rites Held Funeral services were held Wednesday in Aaron-Ruben for Abraham Cohen, 72, a willing giver to children’s hospitals and orphanages wherever they were.
