Center Women Will Compete For Volleyball Championship
The “volleyball game of the season" will be played at 8:15 p. m. Monday, Jan. 28, when the Jewish Community Center's women’s afternoon class meets the Wednesday evening group. Championship status will go to the first team to win two
games.
Mrs. Arthur Rosenfeld, captain of the afternoon team, will draw her players from Mmes. Sol Eshowsky, Louis Frank, Paul
Green, Erwin Lebowdtz, Harold Marks, Philip Perlstein, Irving Miller,^ Robert Peril, Bernard Silver, Herbert Green, Arthur Rosenfeld, and Jules Goldman. Stalwarts for the evening team are Mmes. Fred Levin, Leon Segal, Martin Levin, Nathan Stein, Harold Weber, Olga Gland, Bernard Berger, Herbert Abrams, Bernard Lefkowitz, Sol | Nefouse, and Jack Cohen. Spectators are invited.
FIRST CONCERT HERE — Pianist Herman Codes (above)) will make his first Indianapolis appearance at 4 p. m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the War Memorial, under the sponsorship of the Baltic Concert Association. A Latvian-born Jew, Codes received his early musical training at the Riga Conservatory; later under Casadeus and Gieseking. He spent four years in Naz* concentration camps. He has made four North American tours. Western-Style Dance For Jewish Juniors Set “Kirshbaum Korral," a western style dance party for 12-14 year old "Jewish Juniors" members, will be held from 7:30 to 10 pm. Saturday, Jan. 2G, at Kirshbaum Center. Skirts for girls and jeans for boys will be the costume. Chuck wagon refreshments will be served.
Capehart To Probe Actions of Egypt Senator Homer Capehart, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations committee, said he will take up the matter of Egypt’s brutality against its Jewish community with Secretary of State John Foster Dulles. At the same time. Senator Capehart declared that he w r ould discuss the Egyptian persecution of Jews with Henry Cabot Lodge, head of the United States delegation to the United Nations, and he would also take the matter to the floar of the Senate. The Senator made these statements in a private meeting with a committee of the Indiana Jewish Community Relations Council. The committee was composed of Shoolem Ettinger, Allen I Kahn, Rabbi William P. Green- | feld, and Albert D. Chernin, Indiana JCRC director. At the request of Senator Capehart, the JCRC prepared a memorandum for him, fully detailing and documenting the outrages committed by Egypt against its 50,000 Jew s.

City of Hope To Launch Donor Ad Book Project The Indianapolis chapter of the City of Hope will launch its major project of the season, the Donor Ad Book, at a kick-off dinner at 7 p. m. Israel Sends Expert To Aid Mexico JERUSALEM — The first Israel expert to be sent to North America under the United Nations UNESCO plan will be Dr. Alfred Loehnberg, an Israel water expert. He will leave soon for a year’s w'ork for Mexico. Dr. Loehnberg has been occupied in hydrological research in Israel since 1934.
