North Hollywood School Contributes $91.05 • Editor, National Jewish POST: The pupils of the Sunday School and Hebrew School of the Valley Jewish Community Center, North Hollywood, Cal., are making a contribution of $50 toward the Ambulance Fund of The National Jewish POST. With the contribution go our prayers for a righteous peace. MARK HOLZBAND, President Student Council. North Hollywood, Cal. Dined With MDA OHicial • Editor, National Jewish POST: During my enlistment in the U. S. Air Corps, I spent the Rosh Hashona holiday in Tel Aviv. At that time I was invited for dinner at the home of an official of Mogen David Adorn. For such a cause, here is my donation of $2. PHIL DATNOFF. Hickory, N. C.
B'nai B'rith Lodge Helps • PMitor, National Jewish POST: I’m enclosing a contribution of $12, which 1 collected for the Mogen David Adorn Ambulance from the members of District Grand Lodge No. 2, B’nai B’rith, smallest lodge (Eastern Indiana Lodge No. 1735 in New Castle, Ind. >, at the last meeting. May our contribution help purchase the first POST ambulance real soon and inspire other, larger lodges to follow our example. ALBERT FISCHEL. New Castle, Ind.
ALTHOUGH t h e half - way mark in the drive has been reached, any relaxation in the effort of POST readers will only result in dragging out the campaign unnecessarily. What Mr. Brooks and h* 5 committee did, and what other readers of The POST have done, can be done with only the least effort by any reader. Which of your friends wouldn’t be happy to participate in this effort and would thank you for helping in this way. In the United States where there is no shortage of ambulances and where both the police and the fire departments are equipped to aid in emergencies, the value of an ambulance may be difficult to understand. But in a new and rapidly growing nation like Israel where boatloads of penniless immigrants are arriving continuously, an ambulance can be of supreme importance. THE MOGEN David Adorn has approximately 100 ambulances. It is conservatively estimated that a minimum of 200 ambulances are required to take care of only Israel’s barest needs. The ambulances are utilized not only for disasters, but for more mundane runs of mercy such as transporting maternity cases from the settlements to hospitals, and aiding in accidents. The ambulances, of course, serve the army in time of war, as do all Red Cross organizations. Gifts to the fund are tax de-
ductible.
THE POST is extremely grateful to every donor, even those who have contributed $1 and less. The spirit is what counts. But what has happened to the big givers who read The POST? We’re still waiting for that first $500 check,, and if not that, some
for $250.
