She will remain in New York until after th£ New Year, then spend the rest of the winter in Hollywood, Fla. . . . Mrs. Pauline Solomon is in Neiv York City, after several weeks at the Columbia club . . . Mrs. Manny Marcus entertained 60 friends at luncheon and cards Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Broadmoor Country club .* . . The “Thursday Nighters” celebrated the wedding anniversaries of the David Lurveys and the Lou Leventhals with a dinner at Broadmoor last Saturday night. Members present included the Victor Goldbergs, the Charles Efroymsons, the Ernest Fishers and the Herman Strashuns . . . Misses Sue Zipp and Marjorie Kahn are home on vacation from Northwestern university . . . Stanley Goldberg is home from UCLA, to be with his parents over New Year’s eve . . . Irving Ruben was named by Director Charles Broderick to head the Volunteer Ambulance Corps of the Marion County Department of Civilian Defense. Dr. and Mrs. Maurice Rotkow, Des Moines, Iowa, are guests of the David Klains. Dr. Rotkow was stationed at Fort Harrison and at Camp Atterbury during World War II, and made many friends here. Mrs. Kalin will be hostess at one of the parties planned in their honor, a Friday noon luncheon at LaRue’s . . . The Mu Iota auxiliary of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity was organized December 14. Mothers and wives of Sammies make up the group, and any woman related to a chapter alumnus may join. The first meeting will bo held sometime in February. Mr. and Mrs. David Lurvey were in Chicago for a few days last week . . . Mr. and Mrs. Claude Shane, Cleveland, have moved to Indianapolis. They are living at the Marott hotel . . . Mr. and Mrs. Charles Efroymson will honor Mrs. Harry B. Smith, Lowell, Mass., with a birthday dinner for the immediate families. Mrs. Smith, her

husband and daughter Cecelia are house-guests of the Efroymsons . . . The Smiths were also guests Wednesday night of Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Sudransky and Mrs. Ellias Berkowitz at the Sudransky home. Mrs. Sidney Speiglman, Des Moines, Iowa, was also a guest. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Silver will go to Michigan City for New Year’s, where Mr. Silver has four brothers. They will be joined by her parents from Lafayette for the family’s annual New Year’s eve get-together . . . Mrs. Morris Goldberg and children are spending two weeks at Miami Beach, Fla. . . . Mrs. Bert Goldberg spent two weeks in New York City recently, visiting her sisters, MissHelen Leventhal and Mrs. Jack Gold farb and family? Charles Feibleman and his sister, Mrs. Henry Weil, have returned from New York City . . . Miss Barbara Jane Ephraim, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Ephraim, came home from Indiana university, and then left for New York to spend New Year’s eve. Leonard Price came in last week from the Rochester school of technology, Rochester, N. Y., to spend his vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Price. Carl Price flew in recently from Palo Alto, Calif., to visit his sister, Mrs. Sam Weinberger, and his parents, the David Prices. His lyric, “Paris in the Fall,” was one of the hits in Stanford university’s annual “Gaities Revue” . . . Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Weinberger and children, Elaine and Myron Hilmar, spent last week end in Louisville, attending an 81st birthday celebration and family dinner, honoring Mr. Weinberger’s mother, Mrs. Minnie Weinberger. Jake Summerfield is home from Indiana university until after New Year . . . Mr. and Mrs. Philip Greenwald will leave after the first of the year for, their winter home in Florida . . . Bernard Landman, Jr., was here from Fort Breckenridge last week end . . . Mrs. Joseph Cohen has been spending several weeks in New York with her daughter, Mrs. Sylvan Perlov. Mrs. David Silver joined them this week for a few days. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rothbard on the birth of a son Dec. 17; to Mr. and Mrs. Louis R. Markun on the birth of a granddaughter to Mr. and Mrs. Alan Markun Dec. 17; to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Berke, whose 20th wedding anniversary was Dec. 18; to Mrs. Samuel Goldstein whose birthday was Dec. 26, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Baerncopf, whose 30th wedding anniversary was Dec. 26; to Mrs. Jacob Bernheimer, Terre Haute, who will have a birthday Jan. 3; to Mrs. Jack Berman, who will have a birthday Jan. 5; to Ben Domont, for the same occasion on the same date, and to Stanley Jaeger, whose eighth

birthday will arrive Jan. 6. The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Davidson, born Dec. 6, has been named Ann Marie. Mrs. Davidson’s mother, Mrs. Mark Gates, Washington, D .C., who was here for ten days, has returned home. Miss Jackie Gold, a student at Northwestern, will attend the wedding of a sorority sister, Miss Rhea Alpert, to Hugo Friend, at Manitowoc, Wise., before returning home for the holidays. Jackie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sol A. Gold. Broadmoor Country club has issued invitations for a children’s party on Dec. 24 from 2 to 4 p. m.; a teen-age affair at 8:30 p. m. the same date, and a cocktail party Dec. 30, from 10 to 11:30 p. m. to be followed by a breakfast. Miss Rosilyn James .daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney James, returned from Ohio State University Wednesday. She will return to college Jan. 2.

ID Della Phi Epsilon Elects New Officers Myra Klass, Chicago, was elected president of Delta Phi Epsilon’s University of Indiana chapter at election held Dec. 11. Lenore Epstein, Indianapolis, was elected vice president Other officers are: Lee Edlems*,, East Chicago, pledge tainer; Florence Zuick, East Chicago, recording secretary; Selma Greenberg, Buffalo, N. Y., treasurer; and three Indianapolis girls. Lois Fogle, Charlotte Levy and Elaine Tarshes elected as corresponding secretary, house manager and social chairman, respectively. Pledge services were given Sunday for two Gary girls, Marian Trop and Clara Atlas.
