He was as devout a Jew, as observing of Jewish Sabbath and Holy Days, as anyone we were ever privileged to know! My father, Rabbi M. Messing, was forced, through hay fever, to be in Michigan from August until the first frost, each year. At the late Alfred Cohen’s summer home on Mackinac Island, every Sabbath evening, there was Kiddush and the “‘Brocha” and the services were read each Sabbath evening and morning. How anyone could ever question the loyalty to Judaism of a man so unselfish in its service through Temple, through B’nai B’rith, through any and every opportunity to further its welfare, was a source of amazement to us! We wish more men were as fine exemplars of Judaism! A VERY LOVELY tea was given at 3 p. m., Saturday, April 2. in the L. S. Ayres tea room by Mrs. Emma Kominers.
