Coal Bill in Hoi Weather ?

Making Your Slectnictty Requires Coal the Year Around I

~r^OW£K & Light must buy more than a JL million tons of coal a year, paying o\er twice as much a ton as in 1940. This increase, together with higher payrolls, material and supply expense has brought a sharp rise in operating costs. Yet we have been able thus far to hold down the price you pay for Electricity. New equipment and improved methods have produced operating economics, which with the additional revenue from increased use of Electricity, have partially offset our higher expense.

Otteraling expense* of Power & Light {exclu11 re of depreciation and tnxei) amounted to more than $10,300,000 iatt year, compared with about $1,800,000 in 1910. During thii period operating retenue increated 62% against expense increase of IH%.
