Beth-El Girls Plan Yom Kippur Dance Special GARY — Committee chairmen for the Temple Beth-El Junior Sisterhood’s annual Yom Kippur dance were appointed at a special meeting of the group this past week at the home of Mrs. Gerald Baker. Mrs. Sam Blaim will serve as general chairman of the dance scheduled for Oct. 10 in the B’nai B’rith Club rooms. Mrs. Meyer Karsh, Mrs. Jack Gerber, Mrs. Fred Lieberman, Mrs. Joseph Galler, Mrs. Sam Janowsky and Mrs. George Richter, are on the planning committees. The next meeting will be held Sept. 13 in the temple. Mrs. Isadore Silverman and Mrs. Sidney Kreiger will be co-hostesses at the meeting.

Labor Day Visits Mark Evansville Week Special EVANSVILLE — Mrs. Louis Marks and Mrs. Jerome L. Salm attended the meeting of the Indiana Federation of Temple Sisterhoods held in Indianapolis this week. Mrs. Marks returned home on Thursday while Mrs. Salm visited her husband Jerome L. Salm, Assistant Field Director of the Red Cross, stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., before returning home Friday. Gloria Jean Trockman entertained eighteen guests at a garden party at her home on Boeke Road in honor of guests visiting in the city. The guests were Miss Rolla Sugarman of Chicago and Dick Lerner, of Chicago. Dancing and games were the feature of the evening and an 11 o’clock buffet style luncheon was served. . . . Mr. and Mrs. Alec Hamber and daughters Bernice, Shirley and Debbie are vacationing in Miami Beach, Fla. . . . Mr. and Mrs. Morris Sugarman had as their week end guests his family, Mrs. L. Sugarman, Mrs. D. Sugarman and daughter Rolla, Abe and David Sugarman, all of Chicago. . . . Mrs. Hannah Simon, formerly of Evansville, was the Labor Day guest of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lerner. Mrs. Simon’s son Phil Lester accompanied her here. She now lives in Chicago. . . . Miss Helen Schultz has left for a two weeks vacation at Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Vincennes Organizations Open Meeting Season Special VINCENNES—The Vincennes Chapter of B’nai B’rith and Auxiliary will hold its first meeting of the season on Sunday, Sept. 12 at the shule. The Havis Hochim Congregation held its regular meeting at the shule on Wednesday, Sept. 8 and the Ladies Auxiliary held its first meeting of the season' at that time.

Seymour Rosenwasser unveiled the plaque ard Max Jacobowitz, president of the congregation, accepted it. The committee included William Stein, Jack Greenfield and Mr. Friedman.

Vincennes Folk Entertain Friends Special VINCENNES—Mrs. D. S. Levin entertained at a dessert bridge honoring her sister-in-law Mrs. A. B. Shapio of Chicago, who is spending sqfveral weeks here. . . . Mr. Stanley Dumes entertained friends with a dance at the Fortnightly Club House on Friday, Sept. 3, the occasion being his seventeenth birthday. . . . Mr. and Mrs Louis Dumes spent last week end in Terre Haute, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Zoll and daughter. . . . Miss Mildred Dumes left for Indiana University where she will begin her sophomore year.

Lose Relatives FT. WAYNE—Mr. Milton Sugar sustained the loss of his father, Aaron Sugar, of Chicago, last Wednesday and Mrs. Morris Stillpass suffered the loss of her brother, Sam Bretzfelder, of Dayton, O. ,Iast month.

Heart Attack Fatal To Hammond Woman Special HAMMOND — Mrs. Mathilda Schroeter died suddenly of a heart attack in her home this week. She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons, Leonard, stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga., and James; her mother, Mrs. Carrie Dobson, and two sisters, Beatrice and Helene of Hammond. Funeral services were held with Rabbi Adolph Feinberg officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.

Lodge Plans Stag Special TERRE HAUTE — The B’nai B’rith will hold its annual Stag at the Phoenix Country ClubWednesday, Sept. 15. The Committee has planned several forms of entertainment for the affair.

Sisterhood Serves Soldiers FT. WAYNE—The B’nai Jacob Sisterhood sponsored a supper for several hundred service men from Camp Scott and Baer Field at the USO Club rooms last Sunday evening. Miss Toba Baum was chairman of the supper and entertainment.
