tnembership drive got underway in January, and well over 100 new members were secured. Also in January, Mrs. J. L. Goldman of Fort Wayne was re-elected to the executive board of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods. And in March, the culmination of one of the finest accomplishments of Jewish women of Indiana was the formal dedication of the Joseph and Anna Borinstein Home for the Aged, located at 35th and Central avenue. With appropriate ceremonies, the new home, a gift of the children of Joseph and Anna Borinstein, was turned over to the aged. A vision of 30 years by the home’s auxiliary was climaxed with the dedication. Mrs. Samuel Dorfman, a tireless individua', is president of the auxiliary to the Home for the Aged. Hadassah Hears Mrs. Epstein Also in March, Hadassah leaders and members from Indiana converged on Indianapolis to hear their national president, Mrs. Moses P. Epstein, speak at the annual donor luncheon at the Lincoln Hotel. Mrs. Philip Falender was chairman of this affair, and her cochairmen were Mrs. Wilfred Borinstcin, Mrs. J. L. Mueller, Mrs. Max Selig, Mrs. Sidney Weinstein, Mrs. Jacob Weiss, and Miss Emma Gelman. This was followed by the organizing of the Riley Tours, an ambitious project, a full-fledged travel bureal to raise funds for child welfare work in Palestine, and formed after much work by Mrs. L. L. Goodman and her committee. And in April, with a full complement of 14 teams, the women’s division in the Jewish Welfare Fund campaign raised ? 10,067, surprising themselves and the city leaders with the splendid results of their efforts. High praise was given the wcmen by Louis J. Borinstein. drive chairman. Six co-chair-men directed the work of the division. They were Mrs. J. A. Goodman, Mrs. Walter E. Wolf, Mrs. D. L Sablosky, Mrs. Sultan G. Cohen, Miss Emma Gelman, and myself. An outstanding project to aid refugees was the establishment of the Handicraft Exchange under the guidance of Mrs. Sara Messing Stern, chairman of the project committee, assisted by Mrs. Hays Block, Mrs. Robert Efroymson, and Mrs. Joseph Baerncopf. Together with the above activities, our groups cooperated with various projects. An outstanding civic program was the successful cancer control drive launched by one we are always hearing from in connection with large undertakings, Mrs. Isaac Born, in which a substantial sum (Continued on page 47)
