Law Journal, advanced military corps in the capacity of a reserve officer in the organized U. S. Army, and also one of the outstanding students in the I. U. Law School. Perhaps the outstanding member of the chapter has been Hal Lieber, director of the popular campus band, member of Blue Key and Union Board and “best known man on the campus.” Bernard Rose is Alpha Theta’s representative on the Interfraternity Council and publicity chairman of this body. He also is night editor of the Indiana Daily Student. Bernie Diamond is junior wrestling manager of last semester and candidate for the senior post. . . . Stan Levy is a member of the advanced military corps. . . . Butz Olshevitz and A1 Kosnoff are the active members of Skull and Crescent, honorary sophomore organization for fraternity men. . . . Bernie Kaufman is junior wrestling manager candidate . . . and with a promising pledge group many more chapter members will take an active part in university activities. A brief look into the history of Alpha Theta reveals a record of surprising accomplishment for a chapter yet so young. Phi Beta Delta at Indiana boasts a record of having more editors-in-chief of the Indiana Daily Student than any other organization on the campus, this being four—Ed Rose, Tevie Jacobs, Herb Fixler, and Ben Kaufman. Ed Rose was president of Sigma Delta Chi, national professional journalistic fraternity, and the other men were members, as was Arv Rothschild, who held the position of associate editor-in-chief of the school publication. • * * Purdue S. A. M. With approximately 25 men back in the house, and a minimum of 18 pledges already lined up, Sigma Eta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu at Purdue University is expecting its most influential year in recent history. From 40 to 45 men are planning to live ir the house, as compared with 33 last year. Nine men were lost by graduation, Hyman Goldstein, prior, said. New furnishings in the house at 417 Waldron street and a general rearrangement have made it more attractive than ever. Practically every organization and activity on the campus find; a Sammy somewhere in a leading position in the group. Most outstanding probably are Dave Blitz and Herb Fuente, who last year played No. 1 and No. 2 men, respectively, on the varsity tennis team, and who both after a successful summer, are expecting to near the top in Big Ten competition. Irving Dagan and Russell Glasser are Exchequer and Recorder, respectively, of the house.
