RABBI GOLDBLATT TO SPEAK WEDNESDAY

Address Will Feature Opening Meeting Of Temple Brotherhood An address by Rabbi Maurice Goldblatt on "The Role of the Jew In America” and a sketch of the life of Justice Benjamin Cardoza has been arranged for the opening meeting of the Temple Brotherhood at 8 p. m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, in the vestry rooms of the Temple, 10th and Delaware. Albert Arent, counsel for the U. 8. Bureau of Internal Revenue, will review the life of Cardoza. Jack B. Kammins will preside. The meeting will be in the form of a welcome to Rabbi Goldblatt. Plans for the year will be outlined by Mr. Kammins and committee chairmen. A social hour and refreshments will follow.

Kirshbaum Closed Kirshbaum Center will be closed from Sunday eveninpi October 9, at 4:00 p. m. until Tuesday evening, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p. m,, and from Sunday evening, Oct. 16, at 4 p. m., to Tuesday evening, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p. m. The Athletic Department has been completely closed down for cleaning and repairs and will reopen Oct. 19, which marks the opening of the winter season.

Skating Party Off; Dance Takes Place The Junior Council Skating Party set for Oct. 20, at the Broad Ripple Rink has been cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances. Instead a Kid's Party will be held that evening at 8:00 p. m. at Bethel Temple. Admission will be 25c. Those who have purchased tickets tor the skating party can use them for the Kid’s Party. The stubs will be good for door prizes to be awarded that night. A special meeting has been called for Thursday Oct. 13 at 8:00 p. m. at Kirshbaum Center. The first Fireside meeting scheduled for Oct. 13 at the home of Marcie Goldstein has been postponed until further notice.

Local Sisterhood Converges On Gary A large local delegation this week made plans to converge on Gary for the annual convention of the Indiana State Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 12 and 13. Mrs. Louis Markun will be installed as state president and Mrs. Isaac Born, honorary state president, will give an address of welcome. The program, which will include two luncheons and a banquet, will feature a symposium on “Jews and Democracy” in which five Indiana rabbis will participate. Temple Sisterhood Ushers In Activities With Luncheon When the new president, Mrs. Arthur Fairbanks, brings the gavel down on the opening luncheon of the Temple Sisterhood at 12:30 p. m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Broadmoor Country Club she will usher in a year of intense activity for the Sisterhood. Rabbi Morris Feuerlicht will give the invocation and Louis J. Borinstein, president of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, will introduce Rabbi Maurice Goldblatt, the principal speaker. Also on the program will be musical selections by Mrs. Ruth Spencer of Miami, Fla., formerly of Indiananolls. She will be accompanied by Mrs. I. E. Solomon who is chairman of the music committee. Mrs. David Lurvey is program chairman. Reservations for the luncheon should be made with Mrs. Jay Kahn, Ku. 5213 or Mrs. A. H. Kaufman, Ta. 0447. Many Indiana Leaders To Hear Rabbi Goldman, Edgar Kaufmann In Louisville

Many prominent Indiana Jewish leaders headed by an Indianapolis delegation including Dr. Clarence W. Efroymson, H. Joseph Hyman, Isidore Feibleman, Daniel Frisch and Samuel Mueller are on the program for the East Central States Regional Conference of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds in Louisville, Oct. 22 and 23. Other Indiana leaders who plan to attend are I. Irving Latz, Rabbi S. H. Markowitz, and Robert Poliak, all of Fort Wayne; and Maurice Tucker and Will Wel-
