My Husband is Gone.
Sufficed by the wife’s anguish at fI»W of hsr companion, and the expression, ‘-My husband is gone.” ■ The clods of the Talley are resting now On Me slumbering eyes—on his faded brow; Bis cheeks for erer have ceased to bloom, k And his lips are dumb in the noisome tomb; Their swtody broken, their fragrance gone— L Their aspect cold as the Parrian stone; hopes, alas! with thee have died— Oh! loved one, would 1 were by thy side. Yet the "joy of gricF’ it is mine to bear; I hear thy voice in the twilight air; Thy smiles of sweetness untold I see, When the visions of evening are borne to me; Thy kiss on my dreaming lip is warm— My arm embraceth thy loveing form; Then I wake in a world that is sad and drear, To feel in my bosome—thou art not heart.
