The Jasper County Employment Society.
In to-day’s paper will be found the proceedings of the "Jasper County Employment Society,” which was organized at the Court House, in this place, on Saturday last, agreeable to previous notice. The object of this society, as expressed in its proceedings, is a commendable one, and should receive the approval and support of our citizens generally, especially our farmers, as it will no doubt. ifproperly managed, and its advantages secured, result in mutual good to the employer and employee. No one will deny but that there is a wide and profitable field for labor in our county that cannot be made available without a large additional supply of aborers. Much of the land owned by actual settlers, and unimproved, might be tenanted out in a way that would render It prtwmrtivd anti profitable both to the -proprietor and the tenant. Rut with the present scarcity of laborers this land must remain unimproved. Much of the sickness that has occurred in our midst h.aa no .doubt resulted from, the exposure and intense labor which the! farmer has had to encounter in oidxiE—Xu, sccurc|n3 .crops. -TW?t!iUU, imrygfer] vßfiEd in- the future if the present op-; portunity is improved. One of the advantagestobe derived by ’ this organization is that it affords teaUjkLgi ’hia'y _^6areTE”^n'”dpp°ritlHIll iy, ar a very j trilling expense, of procuring just such a J person or persons as they may desire,: without the risk of imposition. The i managers and officers of the society in ■JCeWYork, through which this society is i to operate, are all honorable ami high -f minded individuals, which is a full and ( sufficient guarantee -that- their pledges will be fully and scrupulously redeemed. Many other reasons might be urged in favor of this project, but our space wilH not permit us to add more at present. "rLtvknxd.-CoI.
