Fishing for salmon is prohibited at the present time in nearly all of the rivers of Alaska and altogether in the southeastern part of the territory. Meanwhile the fishery goes on, but it is marine fishery. The salmon are caught on their feeding grounds out at sea with purse seines, gill nets, floating traps and fish lines.
