COURT NEWS

The grand Jury was ordered called Monday by Judge Hanley, and will be in today. It is understood that it is called for a specific purpose, but The Democrat is not at liberty to state the nature of the purpose at this time. The Jury, came in Monday and the case of F. E. Lewis vs. the B. J. Gifford estate, on a disallowed claim, was taken up and was still grinding before Judge Hanley and a jury at the time The Democrat went to press. Plaintiff, who is now superintendent of the northern division of the Monon railroad, was for 10 years superintendent of the Gifford railroad at a salary, he states, of $2,500 per year. After crediting the amounts he tecelved there Is a balance due him, he alleges, of some $16,000, for which he is sueing. SECONDWEEK Wednesday, State vs. Christian L.
