COUNTY EDUCATIONAL NOTES
(By Co. Supt Sterrett) The taxpayers of Marion township will hold their red letter day when they dedicate the North Marton consolidated on the afternoon of Oct. 29. This date falls on Friday. State Superintendent L. N. Hines will be । present and give the chief address lof the afternoon. County Superin- , tendent W. O. Schanlaub of Newton county will give the opening address at 1 o’clock. It is possible that there will be other out-of-county speakers but the chief speaking will be done by the above named men. The occasion will be used to inaugurate the educational campaign that is set from Nov. 7 to 16. A novel township institute was held at Tefft last week. The session was held Friday night. The patrons were invited to attend and participate In the program. Miss Addie Harris is principal of the Kankakee township consolidated and chairman of this institute. About 150 attended this community institute. The state teachers’ association will be held at Indianapolis this week. This association opens on Thursday, Ofct. 21, and remains in session three days. The membership fee is $1 and the tickets may be gotten from the county superintendent. A certificate of identification will also be given each teacher who purchases a membership ticket. This certificate enables the teacher to get a round trip ticket to Indianapolis for one and one-third regular fare. The county board ruled that teachers who attended can receive one day’s pay for so doing. On Nov. 7 a state-wide campaign will be given to Indiana’s schools from seventeenth to first place. The campaign will last till Nov. 16. It is hoped that all ministers will co-oper 'te In this matter and preach sermons with this as their central idea. All teachers are expected to hold a day during this time and have patrons attend to discuss the situation. The weather has been exceptionally . fitted this fall for visiting schools. The schools are moving along very nicely. There are a very few teachers who fall to realize their responsibilities in the school room. It takes no skilled Individual
