(From the Herald) Mrs. Belt Reece of Detroit, Mich., visited this week with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Soloman. George Irwin of' South Chicago, came Wednesday for a short visit with Goodland friends. Sam Heck and family left this week for, Boise City, Idaho, where they will make their future home. Mrs. Chas. Soloman was called to Fayete, lowa, last Friday on account of the death of her grandmother, Mrs. John Bailey. Mrs. F. Hancock and her * two smaller children visited this week with her sister, Mrß. Bert Dillion, and family at Wheatfleld. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Mead, Mrs. O’Neal and Mrs. Dazie Youngs of Aline, Okla., attended a family reunion at Idaville, Sunday. Mrs. Anna Porterfield left this week for Ukiah, Calif., after a visit here with her brother, F. J. Retterath and sister, Mrs. H. T. Griggs. Ben F. Loughridge and son Omer and Dick Dorston left Monday morning for White Cloud, Mich., and on their way home will visit in Chicago. Everett Logan, who has spent three years in this community, left last week for Indianapolis, where he secured employment in one of the factories of that city. Mrs. Russell Chapman and two little children of Burns, Tenn., who visited here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Pluimer, left Monday for Winona Lake, for a visit with relatives. The Goodland Boy Scouts came home this week after spending a most enjoyable time on the river north of Monticello. Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights were a little cool for camping. Mrs. B. A. Constable and daughter, Mrs. W. W. Dye of Lowell, left
Tuesday morning for points in the eastern part of the United States. They expect to attend two big family reunions before they return home. Seymore Hickman, who has been spending a few weeks at Vincennes, Ind., came to Goodland last Saturday and visited over Sunday with relatives. On Monday he went to Mt. Ayr to help his brother finish threshing. , Lieut. Commander Leslie Oswald of the United States Navy, has presented the museum with a Turkish Fez. This is a very rare article in this country and came Jeruselum. It was purchased Dy Lieut. Oswald at Joppa. W. S. Watson left Wednesday for Lafayette for a few days visit with his daughter, Mary, after which he will go to Hanna where he expects to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. C. G. Hunt, and later will start a tailoring establshment. Mr. and MTs. Gant Bates and Stanley Jenkins of Irontop, Ohio, came 4ast Saturday for a visit here with Mrs. Bates’ brother, Fred and family. Mr. tfnd Mrs. Bates were recently married and are enjoying their honeymoon trip in Indiana. Mrs. Mary Bigger, aged mother of Anderson Bigger of this place, passed away at her late home at Freedom. Owen county, Ind., Tuesday morning at 6:40. Ethel -and George Bigger left Wednesday to attend the funeral of their grandmother at i 0 a. m. Thursday.
Sunday was Mrs. Marion James 68th birthday and her guests for that day were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Camps, and daughter Jane, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Thomas of Chicago, who mdtored down to Goodland to help her celebrate. Dr. C. P. Clark, who visited here with his mother, Mrs. Martha Clark and his sister, Mrs. J. S. McCurry and husband, has left for Penns Grove, N. J., where he has accepted a fine positon as corporation physician for the DuPont Powder Co. at the Deep Water Dye Works. Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Hunt returned to their home at Hanna, Ind., Wednesday. Mrs. Hunt was formerly Miss Florence Watson and they were here dividing the Watson household effects. A large van came down from Lacrosse and moved the Hunt furniture to Hanna WedAlbert and Nellie Gray in company with Mr. and Mrs. Finnesy and Henry Brook drove to Sheridan Beach, near Michigan City, Saturday, where they Joined a house party with Misses Katie Hogan and Ella Brook as hostesses. Others of the party were Miss Mary Helen Brook of Indianapolis, Dennis and Mary Hogan of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Kenrick, Howard Kenrick, Misses Mary and Florence Kenrick and Frank Glee of Gary.
