OF JASPER COUNTY'CAPITOL Legal News Epitomized — Together With Other Notes Gathered by Us From the Various County Offices. \ The annual estimates of proposed county expenditures for the calendar year 1921 appear in this Issue of The Democrat. The proposed expenditures total 1179,313.41. Estel Florence, the 17-year-old lad who has been confined in the county jail for the past couple of months on a charge of forging some checks, was bailed out last Friday by B. D. McOolly and was released and put to \ work on the latter’s stone road contracts. The boy’s father had sent the money to make the checks, it is understood. Merle Kasper and Lester Mannis, the alleged auto thieves, were taken to Kentland Saturday and It is understood that bond was furnished by their I’ealtives in the,- charge of automobile theft on which they were being held. They were re-arrested at once, however, on another serious charge and their bonds fixed at 11,000 each. TMs they were unabie to give and they were brought back to Rensselaer and are again occupying the steel cage in the Jasper county jail in which Sheriff Woodworth iw< kept them confined since their to th^lr way out ’ They believed to be members of an of automobile thieves having their rendezvoux in Starke county, and are evidently a “hard” pair.
