RED ARMY ENTERS WARSAW
Soviet Troops Capture Many Polish Towns. RUSSIANS SWEEP W. PRUSSIA In Drive Against Capital, According to Dispatches From Berlin—General Wrangel Is Warned. London, Aug. 16.—Russian soviet troops have entered Warsaw, the Polish capital, according to the Kovno (Lithuania) correspondent of the London Times. The dispatch says the staff of the fourth Bolshevik army entered Warsaw Sunday.
Berlin, Aug. 16—The Russian forward march Is continuing and the soviet forces have taken Lautenburg, Strassburg, Loebau, Lucken, Renden, Graudenz and Thorn, all in west Prussia, where strong resistance waa expected, according to Allensteln‘dispatches to the Morgen Post Farther south the Russians are outside Novo-Minsk and the northern forts of Modlin. On the road to Novo-Minsk the Russians have pushed farther to the south and have taken the Polish fdrces on the Bu» in the rear. The ring around Warsaw has a radius of 20 kilometers. Plotsk, to the northwest of -Warsaw, is the next goal of the Russians. They rtport the capture s is Radsymln in this sector, and the continuation of the battle along tjlis front, and also near Novo to the northeast of Warsaw. / Soldau Capture Confirmed The captune of Soldau, about 12 miles northeast of Mlawa, near the East Prussian frontier, also is announced. The statement reads: “We captured Soldau after fierce fighting. Fierce fighting Is proceeding along the line of the River Vflra and the regions of Novo Georgievsk and Izgerzb. On Aug. 13 we captured Radzymln. Fighting Is continuing on the front of Radzymln, Okunlew and Dyubo station. In the Vladimir Volynski region, fighting is proceeding, the enemy having started an advance neax Grublesgoff. In the Brody region our cavalry advanced near Radziechoff and. Toporoff and occupied Radziechoff village. Along the River Dniester and the shores %f the Black sea there is no change. In the Crimean sector fighting continues on the south bank of thv River Dnieper.”
Premier Lloyd George stated in the house of commons today that the government had made It cleat to General Baron Wrangel, anti-Bol-shevik leader In South Russia, that If he further attacked the soviet forces he must do so on his own responsibility.
