AGAIN WE SAY, “DON'T BITE"
Stock Salesmen Are Looking Aftet More Jasper County Suckers. Indiana’s “blue sky” law has not yet gone into effect —and if reports of its provisions are correct it will not do much good when it does so the vendors of neatly printed stock certificates are working overtime in Rensselaer and Jaspe county In search of suckers, to relieve the gullible of thedr surplus cash In exchange for one of these certificates. And evidently the field Is quite fertile, too. The Democrat has heretofore, at numerous times, warned its readers against the stock salesman, and it repeats this warning apaln. There has no doubt been more than >1,000,000 taken out of Rensselaer and Jasper county in th* past 15 or 20 years in these get-rlch-quick schemes, and all any of the victims have ever gotten back one could easily carry In his vest pocket without bulging the pocket out of shape. Thousands of shares of gold and silver mining, oil, automobile, auto truck, patent medicine and dozens of other forms of stock have been unloaded here, and It would seem that all these get-rlch-quick promotion agents have a regular “sucker list” and if a man bites once he is the target thereafter for every fake promotion scheme that comes along, the agents for these concerns never fail to pass them by when out selling stocks In the “good things” that are destined to bring in the dollars’ so fast that they will not knoyr what to do with them.
It 1b said that there la over |200,000 In stock held In one of the above mentioned companies In Jasper county, 1 a company that to all Intents Is a growing concern —for those on the inside —and yet the stockholders have never received but one little, Insignificant dividend during all the years they have held this stock, and then only as a bait, evidently, when the company wanted to unload another issue of stock and hoped to sell most of it to those they had unloaded the former issue tn. Hundreds of shares of this stock can be bought of the holders here for a very few dollars per share. In fact the holders would be glad to unload at any old price. And this is stock in one the most promising of the many "companies” that have been helped along by the Jasper county sucker list, too. If you have any money to Invest In securities, put It Into government bonds, where it is as good as old wheat In the mill, and you know just what dividends —Interest—you are to get and it comes as regularly as clockwork, bearing In mind at all times that there Is an abundance of capital awaiting Investment in "good things” and It Is not necessary for money-making promotions of real merit to send their agents to Jasper county to sell stock in their companies.
