WANTS CELEBRATION IN 1921
Jay Stockton Raising Funds for a Local Fourth of July Observance. It Is a foregone conclusion that Rensselaer will “Fourth of July” in 1921. Jay W. Stockton has headed a subscription paper with SSO ani circulated same among our citizens and business men to raise sufficient funds for a rousing celebration here next year, and already has considerably over' SSOO subscribed. He expects to keep on until SI,OOO is subscribed, which should certainly put Rensselaer on the map next 4th. Rensselaer is so centrally located as too draw from a very large territory, and that we have laid down for the past few years on a celebration the 4th and thereby made ft necessary for the people tributary to our city to go away from home if they wanted to celebrate has been a source of much unfavorable comment. Mr. Stockton’s public-spirited action in getting started early in the work for a edlebration here next year not only serves notice on the neighboring towns that Rensselaer Is going to be “it” next Fourth ct July, but Insures the people of this immediate section that they need not go away from home to celebrate.
