Henry Brooks of Indianapolis was circulating among old friends here this week. Mr. and Mrs. Will Scott of Wabash are visiting old friends here this week. Mrs. Will Hamilton of Gary has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Meehan, this week. Frank Clowery of Twelve Mile, Ind;, was visiting with friends here on Memorial day. Mell Julien of Mishawaka, Ind., came Sunday and spent the next day with his family here. Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Lucky are spending the week at Windfall with M. B. Graham and sons.
Elzle Alson, wife and baby spent Memorial day at Pontiac with his parents, Mr. and 'Mrs. L. L. Alson. Frank Hart of Anderson, Ind., is spending the week with his sisters, Mrs. Mary Chappell and Miss Peart Morris. Mrs. Elizabeth Dickinson of Indianapolis is here visiting her sisters, Mrs. W. F. Zimmerman and Miss Jennie Turner. J. M. Milner and family drove down from Indianapolis and spent a few days with relatives and friends, returning home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Will Stitz spent Sunday in Lafayette, with Prof. R. W. Peebles and wife. Mrs. Peebles was formerly Miss Bessie Stitz. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Daffer of Somerset, Ind., came up this week for Memorial day in Remington and also to visit with Bert Cowgill’s folks. A bouncing 11-ipound daughter, Eileen Elizabeth, came to brighten the home of Mr. and Mrs. Veim Hensler Sunday, May 30, at 4:40 a. m. Mrs. Ralph Boatman of Logansport came Wednesday morning for a short visit with her mother, Mrs. Mary Lewis, and sister, Mrs. Luce Bartoo. — Adrian and Leonard Foster drove down from Chicago Sunday and spent a few days with their mother and sisters. Their sister, Miss Chrystina returned with them Wednesday. Earl Thompson and family, now of Walkerton, Ind., visited Remington friends over Decoration day, returning home Tuesday. Earl is manager of a lumber yard at that place and is doing fine. Mrs. Barbara Bllile, who has been spending the past week with her sons, Henry and George, at Wabash, returned Saturday. She reports everything prospering and looking fine with them. Jones Bros, report the sale of the 200-acre farm, one mile east of Gilboa high school, owned by J. F. Lachenmyer of Champaign, 111., to Andrew Basch of Lyons, Ind. Consideration $302.50 per acre. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peck have gone to Bloomington this week to attend the commencement exercises in which their son Bruce will receive his A. B. degree, as Frank says, whatever that may mean. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Walker and son Ralph, accompanied by Mrs. Walker’s mother, Mrs. Deaninger, drove down from Chicago Saturday and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Walker until Monday evening. Mrs. Rosa Brooks and daughter, Miss Iva, of Kokomo came the last of the week for a visit with Remington friends. Miss Iva returned to her work at Kokomo Wednesday, but
Mrs. Brooks remained for a longer visit. Mrs. John O’Connor and children of Wabash came Friday evening for a visit with Mrs. Jason Bickel and other relatives here and at Goodland. Mr. O’Connor drove over Sunday and spent Decoration day, the family returning home Tuesday afternoon. Robert Bahler left Remington Monday for an allsummer’s trip and visit to his old home in Switzerland and viewing some of the scenes of the late war. He will sail for La Havre, France, on the 7th and later go to Switzerland. He expects to be gone till fall. Mrs. J. A. Lamborn and daughter. Miss Merlie, returned to Remington Sunday evening for Memorial day. They have been in Washington, D. C., where Miss Lamborn was engaged on governmental work, but has just been transferred to Chicago, where they are nearer home. Miss Daisy Vorhis came up from Indiana university last week to spend a few days with her cousin, Miss Nina Gray, and aunts, Mrs. Stitz and Miss Millie Gray, returning there this week to graduate and receive her A. B. degree, after which she will leave for her new home at Lewiston, Mont.
GOODLAND (From the Herald) Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Yochem were over from Wolcott Sunday. Mrs. Ida E. Hopkins is visiting With Mr. and Mrs. James Rice at Yuba City, Calif. Mert Harrington drove to Watseka last Saturday night and boarded a train for parts unknown. Mrs. Bernard Gerrich is a patient at St. Vincent’s hospital in Indianapolis, having had her tonsils removed. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Ctonstable, Bethel and Ethel Constable, drove to Lowell last Friday to Visit the W. W. Dye family. Miss Siota Brown went to her
home near Tangier, Ind., Wednesday. She may go to Texas during her summer vacation. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Perkins left last Friday for Three Lakes, Wis., for a visit with their daughter, Mrs. Fred Williams, and family. Mrs. Harry Anderson and baby daughter of Momence, 111., visited here last wek and this with her mother, Mrs. Alma Garrigus. Thos. Moran of Seattle, Wash., is visiting his sister, Mrs. Robert Boyles, and brother, Mat Moran. He will also visit his brother John at Monticello. Miss Olive Gerrich, who teaches at Williamson, W. V., came home last Saturday. She was accompanied by Miss Mary Arnold of Ravenswood, W. V., who also teaches in the Williamson schools. On Thursday of last week Miss Opal Light, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Light of Brook, who taught domestic science in our schools this past winter, left for Yakima, Wash., where she will be united in marriage to Mr. Clarence Lemaster, formerly of this dty, who went to Washington last winter and who now has a fine position in a jewery store at Yakima. । Mrs. Henry Butler passed away at the home of her son West at Kendallville, Ind., last Friday morning after a short illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Butler was born in England in 1834, and was 85 years, 9 months and, 21 days old. The remains were brought to Goodland where services were held and interment made beside her husband, who preceded her a few months ago.
