HESSIAN FLY IS DOING DAMAGE

To Wheat In Newton ■* Well a* in Jasper County. Farmers of this immediate vicinity are suffering a terrible loss from the Hessdan fly. A drive along the wheat belt skirting the Iroquois river shows the ravages the fly has made during the past week and there is scarcely a field not affected. The destruction of the crop has been so complete that many of the farmers are plowing under the crop and will plant corn. The fly was first discovered about 10 days ago, and spread rapidly to other fields. Some fields not In the Iroquois belt may possibly escape. The wheat crop was looking good, with promise of an average yield, and the loss occasioned by the fly will be quite heavy.—Newton County Enterprise.
