AND IT IS DEMOCRATIC, TOO

Brown County Leads In the Near East Relief. Indianapolis, April 29.—The Indiana committee of near east relief, conducting the Armenian orphan aid campaign, has announced that Brown county, Ind., not only leads the state but the nation in its response to the near east relief appeal for starving orphans. The committee, according to Director Clarence D. Royce, bases its statement on the nationwide reports. Brown county’s quota was five orphans, while cash receipts show the county has contributed $2,110.85, which provides for 35 orphans for one year. This means, according to Director Royce, that the county has made its quota 700 per cent. The Methodist Episcopal church of Nashville, Brown county, of which Rev. John Ragle is pastor, raised $2,052.35 of the fund. The Indiana committee has sent the Brown county cahllenge to every community in the country. In the matter of population, Brown county is probably the smallest county in the state.
