Rev. H. T. Wilson of Harbor Beach, Mich., has been engaged as pastor of the Presbyterian church at Monticello, which pastorate has been vacant for some time. Mrs. Palmer, wife of former Judge T. F. Palmer of the White circuit court, died at her home in Monticello last Monday, aged 62 years. She is survived by a husband and one daughter, Mrs. J. E. McCurdy, of San Mateo, Calif. Senate amendments to a bill increasing monthly pensions for civil and Mexican war veterans and their widows were accepted Wednesday by the house. The measure now goes to President Wilson. George Doyle, the young man arrested at Lebanon on Thursday of last week on the charge of robbing passengers on a Monon sleeper, and who confessed the crime, was taken to the Michigan City prison Tuesday to serve an indeterminate sentence of 1 to 14 years, Imposed on him in the superior court at Lafayette. Quick justice, surely.
