THE NUMBER TWELVE

April 3, 1920. Everett Halstead, Rensselaer, Ind. Dear Sir: Twelve times one is twelve. Twelve is a great number. There are twelve hours in a day. 1 Twelve hours in a night. Twelve months in a year. Jacob had twelve sons. There were twelve tribes in’ Israel. Christ bad twelve disciples. Twelve is a lucky number.for some people. For instance, take the case of Hugh Kirk. He sells twelve different styles of cars. The average price is >I2OO, or he will trade one good car for twelve old flivvers. He clears >l2 on each car. Each car will carry twelve people. He works ’ twelve hours a day, so/ twelve days in the week, and twelve months in the year. He has been at the business for twelve years, and his great ambition is to sell 1200 cars before anyone dares to call him grandpa. But he doesn’t have to call on you twelve times before you buy a car. By the way, you had twelve men this winter that split posts. Each man lasted twelve days and x he cut about 1200 fence posts. If you woula send me 1200 posts In each carload, send twelve cars a month and keep it up twelve months in a year for twelve years, I would surely sell some posts, Yours truly, JOHN DOE. P. S. —When I was a boy it took twelve to make a dozen.
