AN ECHO OF BANK ROBBERY

Some of Securities Taken at Mt. • Ayr Heard From in Illinois. Th 6 writer who with others had a number of valuable papers, such as abstracts, etc., taken from his private box In the robbery of the Mt. Ayr bank last fall, received a telegram from the Illinois state attorney Friday to the effect that he had in his possession a bond of the U. S. Chicle and Confection Co., issued in our name and supposed to have been stolen. A reply setting out the facts in the matter brought back a telegram to the bank from the Illinois attorney requesting a list of the bonds, papers, etc., lost in this robbery. Needless to say the cashier hastened to list as many as he Jiad a check on and forwarded to the Illinois prosecutor, and, it is, being hoped here that the papers of value to the bank and its patrons will soon be recovered. Wie saw recently in a Chicago paper where some of the gang who had been operating in the robberies throughout this section had been apprehended and it is hoped there was something to the report. —Mt.
