Miss Helen Farabee and Mrs. Will Dawson spent Monday at Monticello. Mrs. Alice Burling spent Tuesday at Wolcott with her mother, Mrs. Jones. Mrs. F. L. Peck spent Wednesday at Idaville with her mother, Mrs. Tedford. Mrs. John Flesh of Kentland spent Wednesday with Mrs. Perry Griffith and family. Miss Gertrude Bahler went to visit relatives at Forest and Fairbury, 111., Saturday morning. Mrs Chet Dexter went to Goodland this Thursday morning to visit relatives for a few days. Mrs. I. N. Darrow of Wolcott snent this Thursday with her Ser, Mrs. Bene Hicks. > Mrs Ted Eger and son returned to her home at Rensselaer Sunday after a two weeks visit here.
Mrs. Jacob Ochs, Jr., and son Jean went to Watseka, 111., Saturday to visit Mrs. Walter Forbes and family. Miss Maxine Burger of Goodland spent Saturday with her grandpat' ents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hemphill. Mrs. Herman Alberts, Jr., returned Saturday from a week’s visit with her sister, Mrs. Ernest Comer, at Parr. Misses Ethel and Olive Ulm of near Goodland came Tuesday evening to visit the Frank family. Mrs. Conrad Beckley and little daughter went to Fairbury Tuesday morning to visit the former’s mother and sisters. Little Wilhelmine Sherrow has been quite sick with tonsilitis at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. George ‘Lucterhand. Mrs. J. Fosdick went to Weston, 111., this Thursday morning to see her daughter, Mrs. Roy Warbrinton, who is very ill from an operation. A. L. Carpenter has spent several days this week at the bedside of his father, who is in the county hospital at Rensselaer and is in a very serious condition. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whitehead and Mrs. Chas. Bressner returned Monday evening from Etna Green where they attended the funeral ot Mrs. Calvin Beck’s baby. Marion Parks and family, who had been in Florida the past year,. returned to Remington Friday last. Sunday they went to Logansport to visit Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hyman. A strange occurrence —we had a hard thunder and lightning storm the other night and the electric lights did not go out, although most
everyone got out their John D’s in preparation for that event. Mrs. L. E. Greenwood returned the latter part of the week from Gary where she was called on account of the illness and subsequent death of her sister, Mrs. Pagett. Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Fox, who had been on a visit to their home at Danville, 111., returned Monday and expect to remain until Mr. Fox finishes his work on the new bank, which has been delayed awaiting materials. George Hemphill has bought’'the Elmore property, now occupied by Mr. Hafey and family, just east of the Presbyterian church. We have been told that Mr. Hemphill will occupy it himself, having sold the property where he is now living. The committee in charge of the Carpenter township Sunday school has secured the services of Miss Myrtle Huckleberry of Franklin, director of the children’s division of the Indiana Baptist Sunday schools, as their speaker for * the cdnvention t) be behL in Remington 11. Mrs. Leslie Hull of Brewster, Minn., Mrs. Wm. Hussong of Heron Lake, Minn., and Mrs. Z. E. Nutt ot Kempton, 111., took the train here Wednesday morning for their homes after attending the funeral of their mother, Mrs. R. W. Burris, at Rensselaer. Roy Hall, Lovy Walter and Philip Walter of Dayton, Ind., accompanied by Mrs. Hutson of Olympia, Wash., came in a car Monday to take Miss Maude Walter, sister of Mrs. Hutson, to her home in Dayton. Miss Walter had been staying with Mrs. Ed Butcher and will be greatly missed by her friends.

Mrs. Hazel Harrington and family spent Saturday at Fair Oaks. Mrs. Ansel Potts took dinner Tuesday with Mrs. John Zellers. Lonnie Wiseman Is another new Ford subscriber now. Oh, Mabel! , Services will be held here Meh. 28 by Rev. Barbre. Everybody come. Mr. and Mrs. Ansel Potts visited their son Ray and family at Kniman Sunday. Mrs. Peter Wood of Fair Oaks spent Wednesday with the John Zellers family. Miss Gladys Ogle visited Sunday evening with Misses Elsie and Jessie Zellers. I The applicants for diploma exam- । ination Saturday from Virgie are Loretta Lockard, Alice Kiersma and Dean Zellers. • W. W. Zellers and family, Mrs. : Ansel Potts, Mrs. Agnes Wells and 1 Mrs. John Zellers took dinner Thursday with Mrs. T. J. Mallatt. While driving a wagon with hay ladders Tuesday, C. A. Harrington was thrown off and pinned to the ground when the wind blew the ladders from the wagon. He was not seriously injured, however. Among those who rode the special tie train Tuesday evenyig on account of “the cootie” falling to put in an appearance were Opal Hoile and Oleeda Myers of Kniman; Esther Wiseman, Bunny Lockard and Harold and Elsie Zellers of Virgie and I Robert Cover and Helen Todd of Moffitt’s switch. All reported a successful journey except for poor lighting system.
