HOG SALE TOTALED $5,680
John R. Lewis & Sou Sell 49 Hampshires at sll6 Average. The second Hampshire hog sale for the season of John R. Lewis & Son of Barkley township, which was held in Rensselaer last Thursday totaled |5,680, and the average price for the 49 head sold was sll6. Myra Inez brought the top price, sß7's, and was bought by Colvert & Son of Boswell, Benton county. Eleven of the 49 ' head were bought by Jasper county men, the others going' to different sections of Indiana and *to other states. County Agent Stewart Learning bought one of the hogs at $250 to take to his stock farm near St. Peter, Minn. Hoosier Lady sold for $250 and went to Pine Grove Stock farm at Marlette, Mich. Harvester’s Gold brought S3OO and was purchased by a breeder at Leesburg, O. The Menry Amsler & Son sale of shorthorn cattle, held at their faiuni near Surrey Saturday, was well attended and all the animals brought good prices. Eighty head were sold with an average of $248 per head, or a total of $19,680. The top price for any one animal was $650, the heifer calf of this cow bringing $590. The sale was cried by Carey Jones of Chicago, Col. Fred A. Phillips of this city and 'Harvey Williams of Remington.
