LEB Miss Eva Creel is visiting relatives in Illinois. Miss Thelma Noland Is spending her Christmas vacation at hornet J. H- Culp and family were Sunday guests of J. W. Mellender and family. Mrs. C. A- Holeman Is improved enough that she can walk a little with assistance. Mrs. Clayton Mellender Is spending some time visiting her brother at Michigan City. The neighbors met Wednesday and had a wood chopping bee for Mr. and Mrs. Watts. Miss Nellie Overton of Monon spent Sunday here with her uncle.

Frank Overton, and family. Mrs. Joseph Clark’s near relatives met at her home on Christmas day and enjoyed a big dinner and a Thera was a splendid program and tree given here at the church Christmas eve, which was enjoyed by all. Jacks’s near relatives met at her home Sunday with wellfilled baskets, reminding her of her birthday anniversary. Frank Eldridge was called to Monon Monday to help care for his father, “Uncle” Tom Eldridge, who is in very poor health again. Mr. and Mrs. Ephrlam Cllmore’s children and families, except their daughter, Mrs. Clyde Clark, and family of Morocco, spent Sunday at the parental home. Miss Lural Anderson returned last Sunday evening to Muncie, where she has been attending school, after spending her holiday vacation here with home folks. FAIR OAKS Health Is generally Quite good in our village now. Mrs. Charles Halleck seems to be resting easier at this writing. James Babcock, Jr., of Parr was shining around in our town Monday. The Lawrence Halleck family came up Saturday and visited until Sunday. Rev. Todd filled his regular appointment at the M. E. church Sunday at 11 a. m.

C. A. Gundy, who had been staying with his daughter at Westville, was home over Sunday.

Amy Bringle came up from Lafayette and spent a few days the latter part of the week. C. A. Bringle and wife came up from Remington Sunday and took dinner with home folks. Sam Karr and Jake Bowsher headed for Buchanan, Mich-, Monday to seek employment in a factory. Ray Wood moved Mr. Bott frbm Roselawn Monday to Fair Oaks, into the Washburn property, near the stock pens. Gladys Halleck, after spending a few days at home, returned to Gary Saturday* where she has a position in a shoe store. .Bert Warne and Herbert Bozell and family and Mrs. Leslie Warne attended meeting Sunday at Mr. Fenwick’s at Rensselaer. Miss Mildred Renser, Mr. Raub and Miss Leota Moore and friend of Lafayette and Mr. Balch of Chicago were guests of Amy Bringle Sunday. Taken as a whole, we have been having splendid winter weather, although we had a young blizzard Monday, but nice weather has followed It. Wayne Call and wife of Chicago (Heights came down and spent Xmas with 'his brother Fred on the Hus-

flcker ranch. Wayne is running an ice cream parlor in the Heights. Abe Bringle took his mall wagon to Roselawn the latter part of the week to have some new spindles put on- He finished up his sixteenth year In the rural mail service Wednesday evening. It is reported that Pete Wood will not move to Milroy township, as he had intended, as he has succeeded in renting of Mr. Lawler the farm which John Robbins occupies. This sounds good to us, as we didn’t like the thought of him moving from our midst. The Karr Bros, have invented a new kind of radiator for their Ford. It is what they call a stove-pipe radiator and is so constructed that the water pipes over the engine and the one below have their opening inside of the radiator, giving the water a chance to circulate.

NORTHERN JASPER Mr. and Mrs. George Mvers have a boy, since Saturday nightMrs. John Pinter, who has boon quite sick, is now able to sit up. Enos Hibbs had all his children and their families with him on Xmas day. Dan Lakin of Buchanan, Mich., visited last week with his brother Ed of Tefft. Mrs. Jacob Heil was taken to the hospital in Valparaiso Monday for treatment. Sena Jasperson and Lawson Bruce’s visited over Sunday with the Jasperson family. Miss Clara Gulbranson from Valparaiso and Miss Sadie from Lacross visited here last week. Charles Gerber of Hebron was through here the first of the week, buying poultry for a Chicago firm. The Masonic banquet at Wheatfield Monday night was well attended. Everyone had a good time. Nona White of Chicago and Sherman White of Hammond spent their Xmas vacation with relatives in Tefft. Mrs. M. Ocker of Empire, Mich., came Monday for a several days' visit with relatives at Wheatfield and Tefft. Mr. Boyle, our mail carrier, moved into the R. E. Davis' house Tor a couple of months, and Charles White’s moved into the Belcfier house Monday. •Harry Lane and Miss Mulda Willa stole a march on their friends last Saturday by going to Rensselaer and getting married. From there they went to Lafayette and visited his sister, returning here Monday. Harry is in the employ of Uncle Sam and is stationed In Arkansas, where he expects to receive his discharge In March. Beaver Mr. apd Mrs. Frank May called on Mr. and Mrs. Roy Culp Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Culp ate Sunday dinner wlthi Mr. and Mrs. Roy Culp. Chas.
