MILROY (Too late for Saturday Issue) Mrs. Loyal Snyder did shopping in Monon Wednesday afternoon. Mart Sommers and sons chopped wood for “Uncle’’ Fred Saltwell Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Snyder entertained guests from Lafayette Thanksgiving. Guy Parsons of Wolcott spent Saturday night and Sunday with Russel Parks. Fred Macurdy and Loyal Snyder took the latter’s hogs to Lafayette market Tuesday. Mrs. Charles Marchand and children visited Mrs. Lillie Mitchell Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Saltwell spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Fay Lear, and family. Mr. and Mrs. T. Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Hanna spent Sunday with the Fisher family. Mrs. Lud Clark spent Monday with her mother and father, Mrand Mrs. Fred Saltwell. Two friends from Toledo, 0., are visiting Clarence Fisher and Henry Downing Is also visiting the Flsner family. Mrs. Thos. McAleer has returned home from Peoria, 111., where she went to consult her physician at place. Mr. and Mrs. George Foulks and son attended the funeral services of Mrs. Forbes at the Presbyterian church In Remington Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Wineland of Remington attended the box social at Banner Saturday night and visited her daughter, Mrs. Charles Wood, and husband. Mrs. Frank Wolf of Wolcotf, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Tillett, of Monticello, spent the weekend with her daughter, Mrs. Leon Parks, and husband. The box social at Banner Saturday night was well attended, an excellent program given and was a success in every way. About $55 was clear ed.* Mrs. Charles Wood Is teacher. A wood-chopping contest and big dinner will be held at the church Saturday, Dee. 6. Everybody is invited to help. Some will chop wood for “Uncle” Fred Saltwell and some wood for the church. Ladles come and bring dinner. As there is a gasoline range in the church some of the dinner can be cooked and served warm. Please arrange your work and meet with the neighbors that day and help everyone enjoy the wood chopping and dinner. Preaching Sunday, Dec. 7, after Sunday school and again in the evening. Charles Spencer and wife went to Chicago last week to see tnelr daughter, Mrs. Luse, who was reported sick. • * John Greve shipped out anomer carload of pickles and unloaded a car of salt last week. John took In 19,000 bushels of pickles last season. John Alexander held his public sale Monday- John is going to retire from hard labor. He says he will locate in a good town —Demotte, of course. E. O. Paulsen, son of Louis Paulsen. of” Harvey, 111., came Thanksgiving day to see his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Greve, and all went to Wheatfield and took dinner with Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Mannan, and, believe me, it was some dinner, too!
WOLCOTT (From the Enterprise) Miss Teresa Melon of Remington spent Monday night with Wolcott friends. Mrs. Emma Sell and Mrs. Edward Sell and children spent Wednesday with relatives at Monticello. Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Darrow spent the day Tuesday with Mrs. Darrow’s mother, Mrs. Hicks, at Remington. Mr. and Mrs. Abe Brown wpnt to Delphi Wednesday for a few days’ visit with Mr. Brown’s brothers, Samuel and Frank Brown. Mrs. Q. T. Hughes and Mrs. Truman Holdridge went to Goshen last Friday to attend the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Jane Deuberry. David Dellinger, Charles H. Kleist and Theron Holdridge went to Reynolds Wednesday to attend the funeral of Hamilton Templeton. Mrs Walter Freshour and little daughter Frances Virginia went to Logansport Tuesday evening to spend Wednesday with friends there. Albert Plummer, who had been visiting his daughter, Mrs. Clair Wynekoop, at Flushing, Mich., for a few days, returned home Wednesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. U. G. Heffley bf Monmouth, Ore., who accompanied the remains of their father here, have been spending a few days With relatives and friends. Mrs. Samuel Fllckenger, who had been spending several weeks here with her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Messmer, returned to her home in Pittsburg, Pa., Monday evening. Mrs. Johnston, a sister of Mrs. D K. Jackson, and Mrs. Chandler, a niece, of Logansport, came Tuesday pvenlng to spend Thanksgiving with D K. Jackson and family. Mr. and Mrs. William Pinkham of El Paso, 111., who had been -visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Mohr a few days, returned home Tuesday.Mr. Pinkham Is a brother of Mrs. Mohr. The funeral of Jacob Heffley, a former resident of this place, whose remains were brought here Saturday from Oregon, was held from the M. E. church Sunday. Rev. Ross, pastor of the Christian church officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Utley and sons, Theodore Utley and Paul Coffman, of Battle Ground were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs- C. A. Ermentrout. Mr. Utley is -a brother of Mrs. Ermentrout, and Mrs. Utley was formerly Mrs. Coffman, of this place. Mrs. Thomas Ferguson, a sister of Mrs. M. G. Wilson, and Miss Hindley, a niece, of Middleport, 0., are visiting M. G. Wilson and fam-, lly. They will also visit Mrs. John Nichols of Remington, a sister of Mrs. Ferguson, before their return home.
Walter Krohn, who hud "been working at Papineau, 111., the past season, returned home Monday evening. About a month ago Waiter was thrown from a horse and sustained a fractured leg. He Is now able to be about on crutches and will remain at home until he recovers Hamilton Templeton, a life long resident of White county, died Sunday morning, Nov, 23, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Scowden, in Reynolds. Mr. Templeton was over 90 years of age and had spent his entire life in West Point township, with the exception of the past few years, which were spent with his daughter at Reynolds. He is survived by six children, five sons and one daughter: Robert and Charles Templeton, who reside north of Wolcott; John Templeton of Lafayette; Frank and James Templeton, who reside in lowa, and Mrs. William Scowden of Reynolds,

(From the Journal) Mr. and Mrs. James Pascoe came down from Gary to spend Thanksgiving with the H. Ballard family. Mrs. Runk of Oxford, 0., spent a few days the first of the week here with her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Dal Prevo. Mrs. J. R. Guild and Mell Guild went to Lafayette last Friday and brought home little Jack Guild rrom the hospital. Miss Emma Brenlon and Herman Howelsen drove to Andrews today to spend Thanksgiving with Rev. and Mrs. Brenlon. Harwood Call came down from Niles, Mich., and Estol Call came from Depauw university to spend Thanksgiving at home. Mrs. William Hilbert returned to her home in Monticello Tuesday after a short visit at the Charles Smith home west of town. Last Friday night friends, of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevens "showered” them with many useful presents to begin the matrimonial journey. Mrs. Blven Coburn went to Wanatah Wednesday to spend the day with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Coburn, who have recently moved there from Gary. Mrs. T. L. Smith spent Saturday and Sunday in Monon with Ed Smith and family. Wednesday Mrs. Smith went to Danville, 111., to spend the winter with the Littells. Neighbors gave a surprise Mon-
day night, Nov. .24, on Mr. and Mrs. Joe Richardson, who are leaving this week for their new home at Hebron. About 40 were present. Last Friday night, as per schedule, M. H. S. basketball team went to Monterey and played a game with that team. The boys "brought home the bacon’* in a 15 to 17 score. „ _ Mrs. E. W. Horner and Mrs. C- 8. Horner went to Lafayette Tuesday to spend Thanksgiving at the Malsbary home. E. W. and C. S. went down today to help out with the big dinner. '\ Lee Arrowsmith, Lilly Walter, Mrs. Frank Rowe and daughter Mary spent last Sunday In Michigan City. Mrs. Hornbeck and daughter returned with them for this week. Mr. Traylor, high school principal, came Wednesday evening from Lafayette, where he had been in St Elizabeth’s hospital for the past few weeks. Mr. Traylor hopes to be able to return to school work Monday. j..
