Female labor in Switzerland haa not yet been accredited an equal footing with male labor, even where men and women are doing the same kind, amount and quality of work In the same concern. r The United States district attorney at Seattle has ordered criminal action against restaurants that charge 10 cents a cup for coffee. SocioLegists* estimate that among every 1,000 bachelors there are 38 criminals, whereas married men produce 18 per 1,000. Under favorable conditions the steel mills of the United States are capable of an aggregate production of 50,000,000 gross tons a year. Upon the lines of the Pennsylvania railroad east and west of Pittsburg there are employed 33,000 men of foreign birth, chiefly Italians, and of this number 25,700 are employed east of Pittsburg. In calm weather a carrier pigeon can fly at the rate of 1,200 yards a minute. With the help of a moderate wind it will attain a speed of 1,540 yards and before a high wind, 2,000 yards.
