Race riots broke out in Chicago Sunday, starting along the bathing beaches, and Monday night seven people killed and more than a score of others wounded when the rioting was resumed in what 1* designated os the "black belt" of the city. For more than five hours Monday night the five-mlle area an the south side was a battle ground of scattered fights between whites and negroes and between police and negroes, who fired from house tops, from dark alleys and other points of vantage. A "flying squadron" of pegroes raced down Thirty-ninth street in a touring car and fired a volley of shots at a group of whites. A white woman carrying a baby was wounded slightly. Mayor Thompson has appealed to the governor to send a regiment of soldiers to quell the disorder.
