To A. F. Long, the Druggist, for <45,000 —Is Feet.
One of the most Important real estate deals pulled off in Rensselaer recently was completed Thursday, when A. F. Long contracted for the A. Leopold corner on Washington and Van Rensselaer streets. The ground sold has a frontage of 46% feet on Washington street' and 145 feet on Van Rensselaer, running back to the alley just south cf Worland’s furniture store, and is occupied by the two-story brick building now tenanted by C. Earl puvall and John Ramp and the one-story row of business rooms in the rear fronting on Van RensseK aer street. price paid is $45,00(1 which, setting a new value on busl\roperty in Rensselaer, is not ired exorbitant by people . *have confidence in the future >wth and development of the jfty. Except for the buildings fronting on Washington street the improvements are of little value, although the smaller buildings are bringing in a rental of better than SSO per month.
Mr. Long states that he does not know at present just what he wifi do with the property, whether he will continue to rent all of it or move his drug store to the corner room, but rumor has it that another new bank may figure in the deal and the property was purchased for the lately organized Jasper County Mortgage and Realty Co., who will remodel the corner room and establish a new bank therein. t This rumor could not be confirmed, but it Is the general belief )that Mr. Long did not buy the property solely for his own benefit l ln fact, It is safe to say that this company will get the property, The Democrat is informed. Later —The Democrat was informed yesterday that the room occupied by Mr. Duvall is to be remodeled and the Jasper County Mortgage and Realty Co. will open a new bank therein with a capital of $50,000, and that Long is I to move his drug store to the room now occupied by the 'Home Grocery.
