Henry Ford Will Employ 1,000 at Once, 9,000 Later. Mount Clemens, Mich., May 23. β€” Henry Ford wants to employ within the next 24 hours 1,000 American doughboys who were maimed or crippled while fighting for their country in the world war. He announced this in an interview with a reporter here while his counsel were arguing in his libel suit against the Chicago Tribune at the Macomb courthouse. Mr. Ford is prepared to go further. "I will undertake,” he said, β€œto employ all the men who were crippled while serving with the American forces. I will employ the 1,000 Immediately, and as many as 9,000 others as soon as possible.”
