Instructions have been sent out from the office of the secretary oi state that returned soldiers may file their discharges free of charge in the county recorder’s office under the law to this effect passed by the recent legislature. Robert Mauzy, a son of former ■County Auditor Charles G. Mauzy of Fowler, died at St. Elizabeth’s hospital, Lafayette, at an early hour Monday morning from pneumonia. The lad had stolen some money, it is said, from Ed .Herath’s cash drawer in the latter’s implement store and, as this was the second offense, Judge Hanley decided to send him to the, above school. Another lad was with the Jacks boy at the time the money was taken, but is said to have had no part in the actual theft. ,
