Gain in Acreage Is Estimated at 16 Per Cent. Washington, Dec. 17.—An increase of 6,726,000 acres of winter wheat, or nearly 16 per cent, fiver that sown In the fall of 1917, is shown in the report of the federal department of agriculture. A crop of 765,000,000 bushels, or 8,000,000 bushels more than the highest record, is forecast as next year’s winter wheat yield. Last year’s crop was bushels.
