Pennsylvania avenue to the White House. Pennsylvania avenue was? black at the time with crowds of war workers Just out of the offices. A great crowd surrounded the shop in which the president was and when he appeared he wgs greeted with roars of cheers. Acknowledging the greetings, Mr. Wilson abandoned the motor and strode off up the avenue, walking alone, but with secret service men to the side g.nd behind.
