SENATE BODY AGREES TO BILL PROVIDING PROHIBITION. Manufacture and Sale of Whisky and Wine Would Be Prohibited After June 30, 1919. Washington, June 28. —The senate agricultural.committee agreed upon an amendment to .the emergency agricultural appropriation bill providing for national prohibition Under the amendment the manufacriire and sale of whisky and wine would be prohibited after June 30. 1919, and the manufacture and sale of beer three months after the approval of the bill by the president. The amendment was framed by Senator Norris of Nebraska as a substitute for one by Senator Jones of Washington, and was adopted by the committee by a vote of 8 to 3. Chairman Gore said that an effort would be made to bring the bill up for consideration at once. Another test vote in the house on prohibition, the second in a week, resulted in the adoption of a resolution. 112 to 92, calling on the president to inform the house whether any ruling has been made by the railroad administration, the war industries board or the war trade board curtailing supplies to liquor manufacturers.
