“PRESIDENT LINCOLN” IS SUNK
Transport Returning to U. S. Victim of Submarine. The American troop transport President Lincoln, was sunk by a German submarine in the naval war zone Friday. The ship was struck while returning home and sank in thirty minutes. Destroyers reached the scene in time to pick up the survivors. The vessel—which was one of the German boats seized in our ports when war was declared (by this country—carried only its crew and a few convalescent soldiers returning to the United States.
