Two Banquets and a Difference.

There was a very marked difference between the banquet of democratic editors a few nights ago, at Indianapolis, and the banquet held by the republican- editors a short time before. Speakers at the democratic banquet praised President Wilson and his administration, gave praise to Governor Goodrich and Will H. Hays, chairman of the State council of defense, for the work they have done in connection with Indiana’s part in the war, and showed, in general, a disposition to be fair all along the line. How different from the republican banquet. In all of the speeches made there and in all of the resolutions adopted there was not a single mention of the President of this Republic. It was a purely party political affair from start to finish. It would be_ interesting for some of the republican managers to tell the public why they ignored the President, while, at the same time, they say party politics must be kept out of the war.
