Hammond, Auditor of said County, do hereby certify that the foregoing Is a true and complete list of all the lands and town lots delinquent by the Treasurer of said county, for non-payment of taxes due thereon, for the year 1916, for former years, with penalities thereon, together with the tax of the current year, 1917, and the costs of advertising, so far as the same are liable to be sold for taxes as shown by the return of said Treasurer, and notice is hereby given that as much of said land and town lots as may be necessary to discharge and pay the taxes, penalties and costs, due thereon, or due from the owners thereof at the time of sale, will be sold at public auction at the Court House Door, in Rensselaer, Indiana, on the second Monday in February, being the 11th day of February, A. Carl Stack or Carlisle, lowa, did not have the ready cash for a Rfed Cross contribution, so he drove a wagon load of corn into town and donated it to the cause.
COUNTY EDUCATIONAL NOTES
There were forty-four applicants for teachers’ license on the examination last Saturday. Of this number the following were ifrom the Remington high school: Mildred McGlynn, Oscar Beasy, Nellie Johnston, Hazel Lucas. The following are seniors in the Rensselaer high school who took the examination: Ira Huntington, Harold Weiss, Marie Weging, Emma Benson and Mildred Rush. The following were from the Wheatfield high school: Mildred Gifford, Charles Osborne, Jessie White, Freda Ferguson and Dorothy Boyle. From the Wolcott high school Miss Lillian Fisher was the only representative. The following were from the Medaryville high school: Feme R. Wacknitz, Sadie V. Petre. Miss Irene McAleer of the Rensselaer high school also should have been included above. The following teachers sent their work to the state for grading: William May of Remington, Martha Parker of Remington, Clyde C. Duncan of McCoysburg, Millie Hoover of McCoysburg, Mabel Worland of Rensselaer, Ethel Johnston of Remington, W. S'- Dimmett of Rensselaer, Helen Porter of Remington, Lydia Schneider of Rensselaer, Florence McKay of Fair Oaks, Juanita Fisher otf Wolcott, Mary Luther of Surrey and Grace Norris of Rensselaer.' From the list sending to the state William May and Miss Grace Norris took high school. The following who are teaching took the county examination: Miss Ada Huff of Rensselaer, Nancy Coleman of Wheatfield, Ruth Kennedy of Gifford, Grace Knapp of Parr and Gertrude Faylor of Parr. Mt. Ayr was represented with a large delegation who sent their manuscripts to Newton county. Marie Harris, Ira 'Huntington, and Emma Benson were the applicants from that place. Bessie Harrington of Monon, Lucy Reed of Monon and Dovie Harrington of Monon took the examination here but sent their manuscripts to White county for grading. Rosabelle! Daugherty of Rensselaer took thej examination also. Miss Senia Ben-1 son and Miss Elsie Benson started the examination but were_ compelled to leave for their home at Mt. Ayr; at noon. The roads were drifting! and they were afraid to write on the afternoon subjects for 'car of j becoming snowbound. The county institute date for the! coming year has been set for \the first week in September. Schools throughout the county will .begin on. the Monday following’i(Sept. 9). The county institute last year, 19.17, cost the county and teachers 53. The receipts .from all angles was $306.50. cial institutes. The assessment last year was $1.50 for each teacher. It is likely that the assessment will be no more next year. There has been no assessments levied on the teachers to defray the expenses of the two special institutes, one 'held at Wheatfield and the other at Rensselaer. The Remington special will be held February 23, and all care is being made to eliminate the necessity of levying an assessment upon the teachers of the south end.
