Under the modified rulings of the. ten Monday closings of industrial plants and business houses east of the Mississippi, to conserve fuel and relieve the eastern freight congestion, moving picture houses and pool rooms are allowed to operate on Mondays but must close Tuesdays. Mary Jane Nichols, a well known resident of Momence, Illinois, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Corbin, at ML Ayr. She had been in poor health for some time and had been at the home of her daughter for several weeks. The remains were shipped to Momence yesterday for burial. Ex-Mayor George P. McKee of Logansport, aged 70 years was found dead in his bed Thursday morning at the Wabash Valley hotel in Lafayette. Mr. McKee was a member of the hoard of trustees of the Indiana State Soldiers Home at Lafayette and had come to the city a few days before to attend a meeting of the hoard. Word was received at Hammond Saturday that R. M. Logan, president of the Griffith State bank, who is alleged to have wrecked the institution three years ago, had been apprehended in Pennsylvania, after being implicated, it is alleged, in a new escapade. It is said persons in Pennsylvania will oppose his being returned to Indiana.
