Harold Holtz of Indianapolis, 17 years old. died Tuesday from injuries received in a football game. He was playing in a high school game. Mayor R. O. Johnson of Gary has filed a petition at Crown Point asking for a recount of the votes cast in that city last week. Fraud is alleged in his petition, yet he does not contest the validity of the election, which was done in a complaint filed by the Democrats. The complaint also alleges that many legal votes were not counted while many, illegal ones were counted. Elmer C. Williams, construction commissioner on the Monon ditch, was here from Medaryville yesterday and reports the big dredge on the lower end of the ditch now within about a half mile of the river. The work has not been going as rapidly as has been expected, partly because of numerous breaks in the machinery, but it now appears that the job will be completed by the end of the year.—Pulaski County Defnocrat.
