FLAG IN BATTLE Canadian Carried Emblem Over Top ■ at Vimy Ridge. a St. John, N. B„ Nov. 16. —A small American flag was first over the top of Vimy ridge in the famous charge of Canadian forces, according to J. J. Allen of this city, home with wounded troops from the provinces. When the order to charge was given, Allen said, he pinned the Stars and Stripes to his coat and kept them there. He was wounded three times in a day’s fight* ing, but saved the flag.
