County Treasurer May made a business trip to Chicago Tuesday. William Klinnert, who was included in the first draft but whose examination was continued, has been examined and accepted, and filed no claim for exemption. The county commissioners will meet in regular session next Monday and Tuesday, notwithstanding that the former is Labor day. The county council will also convene on Tuesday for their annual meeting, at which time a number of appropriations are to be considered. William Hurley was arrested by Nightwatch Critser Tuesday evening for intoxication. He was taken .to the county jail where he spent the night, and on Wednesday morning was taken before Squire Dean. He entered a plea of guilty and was fined $1 and costs, in all amoointing to $10.05, which he stayed. Attorney John A. Dunlap has filed articles of incorporation with the secretary of state for the Columbia Furniture company of this city. The company is incorporated at $20,000, and the stockholders are Dr. E. N. Loy, Mrs. E. N. Loy, S. O. Penrod and G. E. Speigel of Rensselaer and Dr. Emil Besser of Remington.

Sharp vs. Charles and Edna Rishling; petition for writ of habeaus corpus. The complaint alleges that plaintiff is the father of Harold W. Sharp, a minor child, 12 years old, of whose custody and possession he is entitled; that on September 6, 1908. said child’s mother was killed in a railroad accident and at time child was 3 years old and was to the care and. custody of defendants; that plaintiff is now a married man and a prosperous farmer residing in Johnson county and is desirous of having child returned to him.
